MaSA History
Recovered by zy from MaSA 1997 website.
The original Malaysian Student Association was established in 1994. Unfortunately, due to insufficient members, it was unable to sustain. The re-establishment of the Malaysian Student Association (MASA) began in early March of 1996. The main objective of MASA is to strengthening the ties among the Malaysian students at the University at Buffalo, and promote Malaysian culture.
On March 1st 1996, MASA had its first formal meeting with an outstanding attendance of 22 students. Although the official establishment was yet to be fulfilled, the members of the existing MASA have already shown their enthusiasm for such an association.
In April 1996, MASA was officially recognized by the University at Buffalo Student Association. As stated in the MASA constitution, the association is considered a non-political party, thus opening its membership to any interested student in the university ground. Throughout the year, many programs were suggested and plans were made for that academic year as well as the forthcoming years of 1997 and 1998.
